  1. It was the custom for the children to go barefooted in summer. If they wash their feet at night it is a custom not to throw out the water in which they wash them before putting a red coal in the basin in order that the fairies would not come to the house. There are not many cobblers in this district. People wear clogs in the winter in this district.
