    Four years ago a mighty flood occurred in the district. All people living on the level had to live upstairs for three days as their kitchens were flooded.
    Sixty years ago there was a terrible snowfall in Ireland. The roads had to be shovelled to let traffic past. After the storm many birds and animals were found to be dead from cold and hunger. People had very much difficulty in getting outside as the snow was piled four feet high.
