    James Murphy as a young man was a notable runner. He ran long races of what length it is not known.
    He often went over to France and Belgium to run races. He won some handsome gifts, amongst them was a Gold cup won in Belgium.
    He was a marathen runner and ran marathen races. He also ran in Scotland several times. It was over thirty years ago when he ran these races. He is now living in Yorkshire.
