    People sought remedies for their ailments in former times through herbs, and other things. Toothache used be cured by smoking worms in a pipe,
    Holy wells were visited to cure sore eyes and other ailments. The remedy for whooping cough is to creep under an asses body three times. The seventh son is supposed to be able to cure ring-worm. When he is born there is a worm placed in his hand and left in it till he dies, and if he ever touches a worm again it dies. A child born at twelve o'clock on Good Friday is able to cure every disease.
