He then passes it to the next who repeats the words and passes it on. It is kept passed around until it dies. The person with whom it dies is blindfolded and has to lie down on the floor. The other children begin to place things on his back saying after placing the article “Heavy Heavy what lies over you”.
The blindfolded person has to guess and the piling on continues until he guesses the right article that is placed on him. The guessing and the articles placed on his back cause a lot of merriment.
“Hurley Burley”
A child is blindfolded and stoops his head. Another child beats time on his back with his closed fists to the following rhyme:-
Hurley, Burley, tramp the trace,
The cow besmeared the market place,
Simon Nally hunt the buck,
How many horns stand up?
When saying the last lines the child beating time erects a certain number of his fingers and the blindfolded child guesses. The beating and rhyming is continued until the blindfolded child guesses the correct no. of fingers.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
