On Saint Brigid's Night also, they made crosses from rushes, and hung them over the door. This they did every year, and in some houses there are crosses for twenty, and even thirty years.
The old people made crosses from blue ribbon, and they kept them in their prayer books till the next Saint Brigid's Night came. The children also made them and if they could not get ribbon, they used blue paper.
