    Islands. They are still very generally worn there, and can be seen almost any day in Galway City, as is the principal market town for the Arran Islands.
    This novel style of foot-wear often brings a smile of amusement to the face of strangers who see them for the first time. I do not know of anywhere else in Ireland where this novel and old time form of footwear is worn.
