“One time a farmer called John Hegarty was in search of a servant boy.”
One time a farmer called John Hegarty was in search of a servant boy. He hired a boy named Jim who was always fond of making jokes and playing tricks and no one enjoyed them better than himself. On this particular day Mr. Hegarty despatched Jim with a message to another gentleman living some ten miles away. Knowing well that he couldn't possibly return any earlier than midnight hour the other servants congregated in the kitchen and held a long consultation as to which would be the best method of frightening Jim out of his wits. After a long debating they decided on a good method. John, another servant set forth at about half ten and went along the road that Jim must take in returning.
