    One time a farmer called John Hegarty was in search of a servant boy.

    One time a farmer called John Hegarty was in search of a servant boy. He hired a boy named Jim who was always fond of making jokes and playing tricks and no one enjoyed them better than himself.
    On this particular day Mr. Hegarty despatched Jim with a message to another gentleman living some ten miles away.
    Knowing well that he couldn't possibly return any earlier than midnight hour the other servants congregated in the kitchen and held a long consultation as to which would be the best method of frightening Jim out of his wits.
    After a long debating they decided on a good method.
    John, another servant set forth at about half ten and went along the road that Jim must take in returning. When he reached the most lonesome part of the road he hid behind some
