- Long ago it was supposed that there were fairies living in the forts. The ruins of these forts are still to be seen. Nobody wishes to interfere with them, for it is said something bad or unlucky always happens to anybody who does. These forts are very ancient. There is a fort in the townland of Croagh and it is very remarkable. It stands on a hill overlooking the whole district. It is round in shape and there are several old hawthorn bushes growing on it. There is a fire-place in this fort and two hobs, one each side of it. It is said this fort belonged to the Danish Kings of long ago.This is the story that is connected with it.
