    cakes and baked on a pan or in a pot oven without a lid.
    Oaten Meal Bread was made from oat meal, mixed with luke warm water. This was allowed to dry and was then baked before a clear warm fire on a griddle or grid iron.
    Enough bread was usually made on one day to last for a week.
    A cross was put on top of the cake to keep the edges from rising up.
    Yeast Bread was made at Xmas and when milk was scarce. The Bread was baked in a Pot oven or Griddle.
