    The South West wind brings most rain to the district.
    When the swallows fly low it is a sign of bad weather, and when the wild geese fly high in crowds it is a sing of rain;
    A dog eats grass and a cab scrapes boards before storms.
    The sheep come in on the side of the mountain before rain.
    A great sheen appears on the rocks, every hill seems to draw nearer and the sky becomes black and heavy.
    The seas and lakes get rough and a loud roar is heard from the sea. It is called the "Coniaria Sonn"
    Thick heavy smoke appears from chimneys before great storms,
