The Mound in Inniskeen village, near the old Monastery, is supposed to be a graveyard. In the Penal Days, Mass was said here secretly, and on being discovered, great numbers were burned in the little barn. Their bodies were afterwards found and buried in one large hole. The covering of so many bodies, caused the spot to be elevated to a a great height and hence the large mound or mass-rock as it is known by.
Trees were afterwards planted around this spot to preserve it from desecration.
