    I espied a damsel with handsome features.

    Bhí sgáil ‘na leacain ar dhath an Rós
    Is ba binne a beoilin ná ceólta sídhe
    Her love and friendship appeared through her nature
    And I wished her daily to live with me.

    Do ritheas ‘na choinnibh le chlaidheamh im dhóid dheas
    Is d’ispreas do’n óig-bhean a gheaobhadh liom mar mnaoi
    She gently answered “Kind Sir don’t tease me
    For I’m intoxicated by Luther’s breed
    Tá mo chlann-sa gach n-am dá dtraochadh
    Le seal dá gCéasadh le Teachsasaí
    But now if you’ll join me we will release them
    And set Milesians at liberty.

    The blessed jubilee from Rome we’ll soon have
