    or passage was used as a hiding place for the Friars or what ever Religious order occupied this building; it is also stated that whatever church belongings were there, were hidden in this cave and are there yet.
    About 100 yds nearer the river there is a well, called the Friar's Well. The stones or gravel, in this well are curiously marked with a red substance, which is supposed to be the blood of the Friars, when they were slaughtered for their faith here in the past. Near here is a curiously shaped peninsula in the centre of which grows a skeagh or whitethorn. I can verify
