- John Fleming, The Rower caught a runaway horse in Dublin. He got seventy pounds and a gold watch as reward. David Hunt, The Rower Village, was able to throw the fifty six pounds weight a distance of twenty seven feet. Jack Hunt of Ballyogan, Graignamanagh, walked to Kilkenny and back to see a horse-show, on the same day. The distance from Ballyogan to Kilkenny is eighteen Irish miles. Thomas Murphy Coole, could throw the half hundred twenty three feet. Thomas Kennedy, Ballavarra, was a very swift runner. He beat a bull-dog in a chase. Thomas Kennedy, Ballavarra, was a powerful jumper. He jumped a river about twenty five feet broad.
