    and dress up. Then one of the boys gets a bush of holly, and dresses it up with coloured papers. They then put a wren's nest in the middle of the bush. They go around with the wren from house to house saying rhymes and dancing. The rhymes that they say are,
    The wren, the wren, the king of all birds,
    St Stephen's day she was caught in the furze,
    Although she was little her honour was great,
    Get up landlady and give us a treat.
    Up with the kettle and down with the pan,
    A penny or two, to bury the wren."
    Another rhyme they have is,
    The wren, the wren, as you may see,
    Got captured in a holly tree;
    A bunch of ribbons by her side,
    And all the (Carrenroe)* boys to be her guide
    A pocket full of money and a barrel full of beer
    I wish you all a happy Christmas and a bright New Year
    People wear shamrock on St Patrick's Day in honour of St Patrick. It is counted a lucky thing to wear a four-leafed shamrock.
    It is a very old custom to make pancakes on Shrove-Tuesday night.
