- Cures
In olden days all weeds which grew all through the fields we used as cures. Squitch grass when boiled in new milk purified the blood. A wine glass full was taken every morning while fasting. Nettles when boiled during Springtime were used for the same purpose.
Sláinteas was used for cuts by chewing a leaf in the mouth and applying it to the cut.
Spider's cobweb stopped a wound from bleeding.
A stye on the eye was lanced by a thorn from a gooseberry bush.
Marsh mallows were applied to a sprained ankle, a swollen foot or bruises, when boiled into oil in pure spring water. Elder bark was applied to chipped hands and the berries(continues on next page)- Collector
