Tradition says that there is a holy well in Kilmacurl but it has long since lost its 'holiness', no prayers, patterns or pilgrimage having ever been heard of there within living memory.
All the people here, went to 'Lassar' Holy well.
It is also said that there is a holy well in Cloonfad which was blessed by St. Patrick.Story
Mary Gilroy lived with her grand aunt. Her grand aunt had a great affection for her and during her last illness said to Mary, "Mary would you be afraid, if I came back after my death, to tell you if I am happy."
"No" answered Mary. Mary returned home after the funeral and lived with her mother. She told her mother about the last conversation of her grand aunt.
One night in November Mary heard a noise and felt something pushing her. Mary tried to waken her mother but failed. Next morning she told her mother and her mother advised her to get up and do whatever the voice told her. That very night the ghost came again and bit the girl on the arm.
