They were left open in Summer but they had bags of hay in winter to keep out the cold. When glass windows were used first, the Landlords valued them highly so that people could not afford such a lexury.
They had clay floors, and flags for floors which were called earthen floors. Half doors were always in use in my district and are used yet.(continues on next page)- Collector
