of different hues pinned on their hats and cloaks.
Then with regard to the grown up men of the time they met at the nearest town each of them carrying with him a couple of fox hounds and started off for a chase.
They could always fel sure of a good chase after a fox.
This was a very exciting and enjoyable event. The men rode on horse-back. The sound of the bugles and the baying of the hounds drew many people to their doors on that day.
When the fox was killed the first horse-man that came along was entitled to the fox's tale.
This was a cause of great pride to the horseman as he went through the town in the evening.
The latter of these customs has died out completely of late and it is a great pity for it certainly was a very enjoyable and innocent pastime.
