    In the last century the landlord of Shepperton was Hubert de Burg Townshend.
    He was not very well liked at all by the people.
    The Whites of Brade, Union Hall were evicted by him but they again regained their home some time after.
    He had as much authority as he liked over the tenants.
    The rents were very high
