- (continued from previous page)sometime in the afternoon & pay a Rounds at the tomb of Father Power, and later do the same at Drimoleague. Great faith in the efficacy of these Rounds was and is held by the local people.
(iv) A Rounds was also paid by the local people to Cill Mo Chiemóg, near Kealkil on August 15th.(b) Charms :- (i) A charm for stopping cases of bleeding was known & practised by Mary Daly, The Glen.
(ii) Cleas na Péiste was practised in cases of Black Quarter - a fairly common disease in calves. Also - affected quarter of dead beast was hung in the Chimney as protection.
(iii) A charm for curing Pharsy in horses was practised by one of the Brennan's of Deelis.
(iv) Posthumous child or the Seventh Son of the Seventh Son had healing powers in his hands.(C) Herbal Remedies :-(i) Corns:- were cured by ivy leaf, washing-soda and penny-leaves.
(ii) Chilblains:- Local cures for the curing of chilblains included the application of potato-water, beef-pickle, salt.
(iii) Warts:- Wart-Wells - the water of which was supposed to contain a cure for warts - usually effected by the application of this water(continues on next page)
