The Hawk is a grey bird and is the size of a Crow and a great rogue. She swoops down on a chicken brings her and eats her. The rHawk also eats young birds.
The Corncake is a nice brown bird grey bird. We can hear her sing early in the mornings and in the evenings. She rings "crake crake". She makes her nest in the meadows. She lays six speckled eggs. Sometimes the unfortunite Corncrake is disappointed as the mowing machine destroys her nest.
The Cuckoo migrates to other countries every year. She comes back to us in late Spring. If she comes back too soon it is said that if the Cuckoo sings on a leafless tree there will be no corn or oats.
"If the Cuckoo sings on a bare thorn,
Sell your cow and buy corn.
We welcome the coming of the Cuckoo as she heralds the summer. She only stays four months of the years with us.
