    Marry in black and you'll wish yourself back;
    Marry in green and you'll be ashamed to be seen."
    It was a custom in olden times for parents or friends to make a match between two people but that does not often occur at the present day. In most cases before two people get married the bride's father has to give the bridegroom a sum of money which is called a dowry. In olden times goods were more often given than money.
