- (continued from previous page)On the day of the wedding the man and party goes to the bride's house in a motor and then the bride and party goes in one car to the chapel and the bridegroom and party in another car. When the couple are leaving the bride's house old shoes are thrown after them for luck.
There is a superstition about the bride's apparel.
"Marry in white and you will always be bright.
Marry in blue and you will always be true.
Marry in red and you will wish yourself dead.
Marry in green and you will be ashamed to be seen.
Marry in yellow and you will be ashamed of your fellow.
Marry in black and you will wish yourself back.
Marry in brown and you will never wear a frown.
Marry in pink and your spirits will sink."
