    sold he must pay. If he has not bought or sold he must hit a certain board as a sign he swears it. It is not toll but it is called "customs".
    Luck-money is often given and it is called to "boot". The cows are marked by being clipped along the hide. The halter is often given with the animal.
    The fairs for pigs are on market days which occur on the first and third Monday of each month. Every fair day women from Cork come to Kanturk and sell their goods.
