    a half a mile south of Kanturk, townland of Castle Park, Parish of Dromtarriffe, barony of Duhallow, County Cork. It was built by MacCarthy Mór, and it is three hundred and seventy eight years old. It is always derelict, because it was never roofed.
    It was never besieged because no one lived in it. Tradition has it, that it was built by seven Johns and that the mortar was mixed with blood of bulls. I never heard there was a dungeon in it, but I heard there was a secret passage there, and that it goes under the bed of the river. Brogeen.
