  1. In our district it is the custom with the people, to sit round the fire at night, story-telling. This particular story is current with them.
In the district of North Glen, there lived a very industrious, honest man. He is supposed to have been a rather outstanding figure among the other inhabitants as regards money-making. Few people, at that time, possessed a lot of money, while this man had accumulated a fortune amounting to six hundred pounds for his only son, which he hid in a remote place. Unfortunately, the poor man became insane and had to be conveyed to a mental hospital. He never regained his senses. Therefore nothing could ever be learned from him about his hidden treasure.
