ten thousand miles away."The above lines were composed by labourer named Mr Daniel Twohig who lived at Toureen Banteer. He worked at farming in the employment of his neighbours. He composed those lines before he set sail for Australia where if alive he is not a very old man to-day.(2)
Mr Denis Ryan, Lombardstown, was also a very good poet. He made a large number of songs. He composed a song about Mount Hillary and another about Lombardstown. He sent both of them to the Cork Examiner and they were better than any other song published for a long time before.(3)
