    "You'll call me no more" said Jim Doe when he twisted the head off the cock.' The story is told in this district of a labourer known as Jim Doe who was awakened each morning by the crowing of the cock. The cock used crow earlier than Jim wished him to crow. This particular morning when he went out the cock was still crowing. Immediately he seized him and held twisting his neck until he twisted his head off.
    "Keeping his mind to himself like Bill Murphy's bonham." This is said of a person with very little talk.
    "Counting his chickens before they were hatched like Shaun Buidhe before he went to the fair." It is said that a man named Shaun Buidhe had a fine herd of cattle and he wished to dispose of them. He made up price he expected for each beast and said that he would be a rich man coming home from the fair with all the money.
    "It is good to have Dan Casey but it is bad to want him" Dan Casey was supposed to have been a doctor of great skill who lived in this district long ago. The saying is still used by many of the old people.
