There is a place close to my home district called Toorlegan meaning “The Plain of the Scratching Stone”. Long ago there were cows kept in that field and there was a scratching stone put for them.
Ballylanders meaning “The Town of Landers” is called after a man who lived there long ago and his name was Landers.
Close to my home district there is a place called Glenroe. The district got its name from “The Red Glen”.
Garryarthur means “The Garden of Arthur”. A man named Arthur used to have gardens in that district long ago.
