  1. The Local Fair
    The local fair is held at Mitchelstown. It is held in The Square. In former times the fair was held at crossroads but this died out. The fair is usually a big one. It is held once every month but the January and November fairs are the largest fairs.
    There are two kinds of fairs held there and there are two weeks between each. At one fair cattle, horses, and sheep are sold and at the other only pigs and calves are sold.
    If a person is going to the fair he gets up at daybreak. Sometimes people sell their cattle on the way but most of them take their cattle to the town.
    The bargain holds making for about twenty minutes. If the bargain is big luck money is
