    given When the bargain is made the buyer and the owner clap hands as a sign of agreement.
    If there is a halter on the animal it is given to the buyer to take the animal home but he must give it back after a few days.
    If the fair is a good one it will end at two o’clock but if it is a bad one it ends at five o’clock
    Each buyer has his own special mark and some people put dirt on the animals back.
    If the people are only offered a small price they take home the beasts.
    The Square belongs to Mrs. Whelan of Mitchelstown. Two pence per animal must be given to enter The Square. This is cleaned after every fair. A monument is erected there. There are two houses on each side of it.
