- ThatchingThatching is done but seldom now but was done in recent years. There are only a few thatchers in the locality and most of the houses are thatched.In this way the thatchers are kept very busy during the year. In winter most of thatching is done. With reeds it is done but sometimes it is with straw it is done.The thatcher has only a few implements and these are a knife, a rake, and a stone for edging the knife. The knife is a bit of the blade of a scythe with a handle on it.
