- Local ForgesThere is but one forge in our parish. The smiths name is Mr Culloty. The forge is situated in Ballingrane. It is built by the side of the stream. It has a slated roof and the door is very wide. There is one fire place in the forge.
There is a bellows used for blowing the fire. It is made of timber and leather and is worked by hand. The principal things the smith uses in his work are a hammer, a sledge and an anvil.
