  1. In former times people considered several wild plants as having healing powers. To banish styes people looked through a gold ring in the morning before breakfasting. There is a holy well dedicated to St. James in this parish, and it is said that people got cured there.
    A cure for the whooping cough is to find a man with a grey horse, and say, " Man with grey horse give me a cure for the chin cough.
    When people want to get rid of warts they wash them with water found in the hollow of of a stone, which they find in the wandering without looking for it
