    over the stooping. This continues until the boy are tired.
    Jumping, pole jumping and racing -
    are played in the same manner as on the sports field.
    Casting
    Heavy stones are cast with one hand, and the boy who throws a the heaviest stone the farthest wins the "trophy".
    Top-spinning
    Tops are spun with long cords, (but the girls give no information as to how any game is played).
    Stilt-walking.
    Home made stilts are used and a number of boys race to find the fastest stilt walker.
    Nut picking
    A party gather, taking a lunch with them they bring back bags full of hazel nuts and save them.
    N.B. "Duckie has not been described.
    Skipping
    Two girls twist the rope and the others run into the rope and skip.
    Tig
    the group of girls about to ply stand around and one counts a number approved the others. Whatever girls get s the number agreed-on "has the tig", that is she must follow the others and endeavour to tip them, thus giving the tig to another. Sometimes we have "dens". Sometimes the wall of the playground is the "den"
    Hide-and-seek
    is similar to tig except that the girl who gets the agreed on number seeks i.e. she closes her eyes while the others hide. After a few moments she follows the others and then it proceeds as "tig".
