Some people go to the farmers houses and buy the cattle from them, but that is not frequently.
In former years fairs were held in special places in the country, but now they are usually held in the town
There is a hill about six miles from Askeaton in the town of Rathkealewhich is called the "fair Hill". It is called that because in former years fairs were held there.
When the cattle are sold and paid for, the farmers givea luck to the puchaser according to the price he gets for the cattle cattle, that is called "Luck Money".
The buyers generally has marks for their own cattle to know them, as the majority of them go by rail. They sometimes cut hair off of their hips and sometimes mark them with paint or mud.
When animals are sold such as horses or bulls a halter is usually given with them
