- There were a lot of industries here long ago one of those is still working, that is the carbide and lime mill, other industries were-
Candle making; To make a candle they used the fat of animals, also a tin case in the shape of a candle into which they put the fat and a string.
Flour was made here in the mill, also carbide and lime. The lime and carbide making is still carried on.
The people made chairs and baskets, they make baskets from squeezeloops.
The people were also good at spinning and weaving.
They made nails here also.
At a place called Stewich about 1 1/4 miles from the village, they also burned lime at the square, Askeaton.- Collector
