  1. Bird Lore
    The birds common to my district are the Robin, the Sparrow, the Wren, the Blackbird, the thrush, the crow, the starling, the pigeon, the seagull, the gold-finch, the magpie and the swallow. The robin builds her nest in a mossy bank. She builds it of moss, hair and feathers. She lays five eggs and sits on them for more than a week.
    The sparrow builds her nest in the eaves of houses. She builds it of hay and feathers.
    The wren builds her nest in a bush. She builds it of moss and feathers. She lays about eleven eggs.
    The blackbird builds her nest of moss, hay and mud. She lays five eggs. She builds her nest in a bush.
    There are two kinds of thrushes. Song-thrushes, and jay-thrushes. The song-thrush builds in a bush and the jay-thrush builds in a tree. They both lay five eggs.
    The crow builds her nest on a tall tree. She builds with sticks and mud.
