    stand in front of the dog and when the dog came up to them Oisin threw a brass ball and killed him with it. Then they gathered sticks and kindled a large fire and roasted all the birds and Oisin was eating them until his ribs were cracking. Then he brought home with him a blackbird as big as a quarter of beef and an ivy leaf as big as a leaf of cabbage to St. Patrick's housekeeper.
