  1. Once there was a great flood in Castleconnell and the water came out on the street and sand bags had to be put at every door. Boats had to be used to take people to Mass and to the shops. The land around was flooded and some cattle were drowned. In some houses people had to go upstairs and wait these until boats came and rescued them.
