  1. About two hundred yards west of Drangan stands the weather beaten ruins of an old (weather beaten) Ormond castle. In this famous limemstone building of earlier days once dwelt Lady Butler.
    Close to the castle runs a little river. This river was forded at at its narrowest point by a temporary wooden construction which could be easily removed during troubled times.
    One day as Lady Butler was peering through one of the Castle windows at the river which was in flood she noticed a funeral procession
