    And Irish valour once again

    The squire before him bit the dust
    And looked his last upon
    His life-blood dripping off the pike
    Of Neill of Slievenamon
    Alas! he fell at Vinegar
    And o'er his lifeless clay
    A yeoman spear'd his Mary Ban
    Beside her love she lay
    And still around the cottage hearths
    Is told in tale and song
    The loving deeds the daring deeds
    Of Neill of Slievenamon
