- There are many Local place names in this district such as names of fields, streams, hills, hollows and rocks.
There is a field in this district and it is called the kiln field. There was a lime kiln in this field long ago and the remains of it are in it still. There is a field called the well field. This field got its name because there was a well in it. There is a field in the district called the night field because there are stray sods in it. One night when a man was walking through this field he walked on the sods and could not find his way and ever since that it was called the night field. There is a field called the windmill field. The reason it is called the windmill field is because there is a windmill in this field.
There is a field in Blackhall called the Plantation field. The reason it is called this is because there were a lot of trees growing in it long ago. There is a field in the district called the brick field. It is said that there was bricks made in this field and that is why it is called the(continues on next page)- Collector
