Long ago, the old men from around the parish came to the local forge in the evenings, and sat around the forge fire telling stories.
When Pat. Byrnes forge was demolished the parish priest used the forge site as a stable for his horse.
Pat Byrnes and Pat Mooneys forge closed down about thirty years ago.
