- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)A thunderstormMy father told me the following account of a great thunderstom which occurred in 1817. He heard it from my grandfather. Nobody knew anything of this thunderstorm till morning because it occurred during the night.
It caused a lot of damage to animals. My father heard of a poor man who lived near where he lived. He had nine cattle and he left them out that night thinking that it was going to be a good night and as the cattle were walking up a hill a flash of lightning struck them and killed them.
Another man found his only cow lying dead in a field. I suppose a flash of lightning struck her too.
Nobody could count how many sheep were killed.
Luckily enough no houses were burned or people killed.
