- The remains of a very ancient Castle is situated in Garryard Wood which belings to Col. Farrell Waterstown Moynalty.
It is a couple of hundred years old and was the residence of King Beatty.
The form of the foundations can still be seen and some of the big cut stones are there still. There is an ancient fort in a field beside the wood and the field is called the Fort field.
Another field is named Muldoon's field after people named Muldoon who lived in it a long time ago but there is no trace of the house in which they lived. There is an ancient fort in it also. There is another field called the Cave field, there is a large X in it and there is a passage leading out of it in the direction of another cave situated about a quarter of a mile away.
The passage is broken down about 50 yds from the cave.
On a stone in a wall in the townland of Shancarnan there is a cross cut out. It marks the grave of one of the Croppies who was killed when they came from Wexford.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
