  1. There is an ancient spinning wheel in Paddy Hill's, Clonsura, Carlandstown, Streete, Co Westmeath. It is centuries old and is still used by Mrs Hill for spinning knitting wool. There is a rhyme about the spinning wheel. It is -
    "I'll sell my rack
    I'll sell my reel
    When the flax is spun
    I'll sell my wheel
    I'll dye my coat
    Dye it red
    Around the world
    I'll beg my bread
    Shule, Shule, Shule, Aroon
    Shule, Agrah, Shule Aroon
    Go scé, Go swarneen slán."
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
