The rainbow in the sky is a sign of unsettled weather. The south and west winds bring most rain to my district. When the smoke ascends straight up from the chimney it is a sign of fine weather.
- In the year 1908 a shed in a farm yard at Lisclogher, near Athboy was burned. In the shed there were twenty cattle, and no one could get near the door to let them out, because the fire was not seen in time. They were burned to death. The cause of the fire has never been discovered.(continues on next page)
